Hey all, my bf and I just got this plant a few weeks ago at Lowe’s and it’s been doing really well until this past week I can’t tell if it’s overwatered or underwatered? I’m sure my cats biting it hasn’t helped and it probably needs more light, but I want to make sure I’m not underwatering it?
To me the top inch of the soil does look dry? So it cannot be overwatered

좋아요 1개 Of course! I would definitely water it. If you’re worried about over watering maybe you could try a larger self watering orb and that will moderate it?
0개 좋아요It could be getting too much direct sun light. Ferns can be susceptible to sunburn where there leaves will turn crispy and yellow/brown
좋아요 1개 I was actually worried it wasn’t getting enough light because it didn’t get much direct light. Should I try moving it somewhere darker?

That’s a majesty palm, very difficult for some to keep perfect. It needs a lot of light and humidity I would never let the soil on this one dry out but wouldn’t want it waterlogged either. Yellowing leaves on mine means too much water usually. Hard to tell from these photos tho, stick a bamboo skewer down to the bottoms of the pot, spin it a bit then pull it back up. The soil at the bottom could be soggy and you wouldn’t know. Source: i have 4 of these lol
