Jade plant going crazy — there’s tons of sprouts but some are going sideways and there’s a lot of little roots trying to grow from the middle of the plant. Do I need to trim parts? Thoughts??

    Unfortunately growing like that is not a good sign. The leaves should be closer together and the stems should be much stronger. It looks like it needs much more light. Maybe start some props. Easy to do and they root fast. Then provide the proper care.

      It’s in a window sill with at least 12 hours of indirect sunlight a day! But I got it from the store a little wonky and it’s continued to grow like that haha. I’ll try to chop and regrow some of them! Thanks

      If the pic is a representation of the light it receives all day, that is not nearly enough. You need light similar to these pics. Morning sun.

    I agree. Time to chop and prop and get this baby under better light. They get leggy like that when there’s not enough sun

      Mine are just a few month old babies…. Should definitely be closer together on leaf placement as Phil mentioned

      Ohhh yeah my plant only has one that is based in the group - maybe I need to cut and propagate?

    That looks like a rubber band on your plant not roots. Did you try to steak it up? Growth like that does sound like legginess and your plant wants more light

      Oh yeah there’s twist ties to prop it up - but there’s little tiny white roots trying to grow from the horizontal froth that you can’t see here

    Just because it gets 12 hours in a window doesn’t mean it’s getting the right amount or type of light. Not all windows are created equal. I had to move mine to a window that faces the opposite direction

    If you dont have a window that gets more light, get a grow light. The extreme legginess, and roots from the middle is your jades way of saying it wants out of your dungeon. Chop your tree in half, remove some bottom branches (petals) and plant your "new" jade next to the chopped off one. (Or wherever, but you get it).
