Hey everybody! I had a snake plant die recently, however I am having a really hard time figuring out what went wrong. The leaves all do sudden started drooping it looks kinda wet at the bottom of the plant but this is how the roots look like. I love snake plants and would love to do better in the future !

They are succulents that like bright indirect sunlight and to be watered every 17 days. Also love high humidity, which prevents browning and fixes drooping leaves.

I’m not exactly sure what went wrong but my one thought is; if too much water sat onto the base of the plant or into the leaves they can definitely rot.

It may be lack of water or too much water? Also, is it in high light? There’s no real way to say how much you should be watering it , but definitely check the apps recommendations for your size and the plants preferences! Maybe you could try keeping it in bright indirect light , and watering when the soil is dry? I invested in a moisture meter and it’s my best friend when it comes to these things. I just check my plants once a week or so and water accordingly . When they hit low, I bottom water them in a plastic tray and then after a day I dump out any remaining water . I also keep them in clear pots , that way I can see the roots! Hope this helps 🫶🏻

looks like crown rot- like kades said if the water gets in the nooks and crannies and sits there it will rot. these don’t need high humidity as someone else suggested, they don’t mind very dry conditions. they can tolerate lower light, but indoors full direct sun is what will make them really grow. as for watering, every 17 days is an arbitrary number. you need to factor in your personal conditions — light, soil type, temp, size of the pot — the key is to water only when completely bone dry and try not to pour the water ON the leaves, just around the base of the plant to prevent this in future 😎👍🏻

Idk but it does look like it was in need of a new pot- maybe check on your other plants to see if they are to :)
