I got this ZZ plant from Target this Summer so I feel like it’s already been on borrowed time. It’s been stagnant in its growth but the leaves for the most part are still shiny and green. Today I noticed these black markings on the stems. Planta says the problem is probably overwatering or bad drainage (the pot it came in is trash but I didn’t want to further shock it by replanting). Do y’all think it’s overwatering or some kind of nefarious disease 😩?

Really? Man... I'm gonna have to try that because. My ZZ's are acting crazy lately since I started following a "routine".

My ZZ is best when left alone! I also have black marks on my stems but it seems to be doing well overall. I’ve repotted once since I got her 3 years ago.

the black marks are normal, the yellowing on the leaves i would say is probably over watering. zz plants do not need hardly any water. i have mine in a mix of potting soil and cactus soil. i only water it when i can stick my pinkie completely in the soil and its dry all the way through
