My monstera is really upset with me. Its roots had grown out of the drainage holes a lot, so I decided it was time to repot. Well the only other pot I had was this large nursery pot from an old plant, and it hates it 🙁 I know that they like to be quite cramped in, but I thought it would’ve been fine after some time and it seems to be only getting sadder. Any tips? I know the majority will be to get a slightly smaller pot, but aside from this is there anything I can do (without spending money, there aren’t any pots in the store nearest to me as far as I know).

it’s a hard angle to make out but were the roots/root ball 1-2” smaller than this pot?? and when did you repot her? plants quite often go through a shock period after being repotted which can last a couple weeks.

Checked on my history and it was 23 days ago that I reported. If I’m remembering correctly they were really long which is why this was the only pot to fit, I’d say it was around 1-2” away from the bottom of the pot, but they weren’t very wide/spread out. Maybe it’s just shock! Thank you!

Interesting that you repotted Minnie around the same time and she is doing fine. I’d check Mickeys roots again. Monstera are prone to root rot and with him being in a larger pot there is potential that he could have root rot.

my grandma swears that sometimes plants just need a little time to perk back up after repotting, she says it can shock them 🤷‍♀️
