In my limited experience -one of the reasons can be that they probably were incompletely pollinated. Sometimes the female flowers don’t get enough pollen and you get wimpy, misshapen fruit. You can hand pollinate if that is the case. (I know!) I’m still trying with mine.🤷♀️
