Look at what I found in my front left garden yesterday! Checked it out with the UF non-native invasive species folks. They confirm it is a CANE TOAD & they added my sighting to their map. Poisonous to pets. And of no use in the garden. So I followed the procedure that they have posted on YouTube for humanely killing it.
Awww. I know it’s what you had to do but it sucks to harm wildlife.
좋아요 1개 I agree with you totally! But these critters aren’t native here. They’re pushing out the native species they’re poisonous and once you get it placed on the map, they really do wish for you to remove it. He didn’t feel a thing. I caught him in a plastic bag put him in the fridge for seven hours for hibernation purposes. And now he’s in the freezer for 24 hours.

Thank you for doing it humanely. I’m sure there are others that disagree with it but given that it’s invasive and relocation isn’t an option I think you did a good job. Sorry you had to do it.
2개 좋아요 The ironic/funny thing? I asked duck AI and ChatGPT to identify the animal in that picture. They both said it was a ground, nesting bird, possibly the ground sparrow! lol.
