Hi guys! Someone please help this plant was so beautiful when I got it about two months ago and I think I was over watering it because there was a lot of soft yellow leaves so I haven’t watered it in quite a while and the soil is very dry but it looks like this, and I cut all of the Leaves off that were yellow when I first realized it was overwatered so all of this has happened within the past week or so and these photos.

Maybe take a look at the roots. I’m pretty sure it was overwatered and it’s good that you are fixing it but there might be a problem in the roots if it isn’t getting better. Maybe repot and take the time to check for root rot. I would still water the plant so it doesn’t get worse just make sure to not do too much.

Actually with the leaves being the way they are I don't think it was a watering problem making the large leaf on top turn brown. From the pics, I can't tell you if you do have another unrelated watering problem but with all these other lower side leaves looking totally healthy I would assume a sunburn, cold shock, or leaf loss due to location change. I see patterns like this on over watered alocasias all the time though so I could be wrong, it's just that I also see loads of philos being sunburnt.

The bottom two leaves aren't of as much worry because they tend to shed the lowest ones as larger upper leaves take their light access while the plant grows

It could be sunburn. I was actually thinking that because of the Top leaves. It was the bottom ones that made me think over watering again, but I will check the roots as well!

I agree that it looks like it could be sunburn. Overwatering causes the entire leaf to turn yellow and then brown. Yours doesn’t look like that. How much light was it getting? Your site settings says you use a grow light for this plant. Maybe too close.

I actually need to update that. I’m not using a grow light currently I have it on a shelf that’s about 2 feet from a skylight window.

That should be fine. Just hard to diagnose. Could be several things.

Mine sits directly in the window and is fine, I do have other plants that can’t handle this window and get burned but I don’t know. I was guessing you had a root rot issue as well since you said you over water
