I would say it’s something else than it being in hydro. These can survive long term in water (as long as you’re fertilizing correctly). A couple thoughts, it could be too cold for it by the window. Usually as long as your leaves aren’t touching the glass you’re okay. But PL’s can be drama queens, so if you’ve got any draft that might be the issue, or the water is getting too cold due to is proximity to the window. With hydro there is always a very small amount of root rot, if you’ve aren’t rinsing and removing dead plant matter it could be effecting its overall health. I pull mine every 10 days-ish, rinse the roots, remove any rotten ones, and replace with fresh water+fert. Depending on your fertilizer, you could be over fertilizing. If you’re using a generic fert and diluting, you may be not be diluting enough causing yellowing. I highly suggest (if you’ve got permanent hydro plants to invest in hydro specific fert). Light is always a factor, but at this time of year it’s usually gentle enough light that it won’t sunburn anything. Mine is in a north facing window and is happy as can be. I’m in south western Canada.
