So I made a post about my plant turning brown couple days ago and went to the plant shop to get some tips the guy said this was past saving and is best to chop off and propagate the healthy parts. Not too sure as I am scared if I cut it off I could be doing more damage?? Any advice pls
Once part of a plant goes black like that, that part and anything above it are doomed. That’s completely rotten on the black area and the guy at the store is right. You should definitely chop right below all the black to stop the spread, treat it with some non-sweetened cinnamon (the real stuff, not the stuff most places sell as “cinnamon”) and then chop right above the first bit of solid green above the rot and propagate that green part. Make sure you allow the cut to callous first or it will just keep rotting when you put the propagation in water.

0개 좋아요 Usually chopping creates multiple new growth points but since it rotted at the edge of the main stem it probably won’t have any from this cut. It might surprise you once it heals the area though, it looks like it’s taken a chopping before and did just fine
