Hey everyone! So I’ve had this guy for about three or four months and he just won’t grow! I water it regularly (three times a week) but still nothing. It had roots before yet they all fell off?? I just need some help. Am I doing something wrong or is this a total lost cause?

Baby wants to dry out 100% before you water him.

3 times a week!? How’s it still alive?? Are you sure it’s real?

Watering frequency varies based on a ton of factors, but no matter what conditions it’s in, 3 times a week seems wayyyy too much!! I let my succulents dry out completely and then wait a bit longer before I water. Typically every 2-3 weeks for me. It’s hard to judge from a photo but I also think the soil looks quite dense and water retentive, which wouldn’t be the best in this case! What sort of mix is it in?

Oh wow! Thanks for the feedback. I suppose three a week seemed far too much. Thanks again!

Its in a way too big pot & as others have said you're overwatering. I'd put it in a 3 inch clear nursery pot w/a thin layer of rocks/pebbles on bottom and don't water until you see the top 1/4 or 1/3rd of soil is dry. Here's what a 3 inch pot looks like.

This is the pot it’s currently in. I put it in the gold one so it wouldn’t get water, dirt or anything else around my house and desk. Thank you though!

PS: This looks like it might be a sedum adolphi which requires watering every 2 to 3 weeks.

I would agree with everyone about the watering schedule. You’ll want to make sure all the soil is completely dry, the plastic pot will feel noticeably lighter vs when it’s wet/damp. Then you’ll want to fully water the soil, don’t just put a little bit of water. I like to bottom water mine, I let it sit in a small container with water up to 1/3 or 1/2 way up the pot and let it sit for 15 minutes. This ensures the soil will evenly distribute water to the root system. I’d also look into succulent soil mix (no miracle-gro), it has more drainage that mimics its native desert habitat, same with the watering schedule; completely dry and then sudden downpours, then completely dry again until the next rain. Also make sure it’s getting a lot of bright sunlight, otherwise it will start to get stretched out reaching for the sun instead of compact healthy growth. Hope this was helpful and good luck!

Hmmm…..my advice is different. For newbies, a small shallow terracotta pot is best. With drainage of course. Do not water until soil is bone dry and leaves may look a little wrinkled. Soil should contain lots of grit and small percentage of organics. Grit is perlite, pumice, gravel, sand, etc. problem is you said it lost is roots. So check for root rot before you do anything else. That will be a different issue. Maybe chop and prop then.
