Hi there! How do I cure thrips? My Dieffenbachia seguine and my Blushing Philodendron are currently infested…. I’ve given them both a rinse with warm water in the shower but I was hoping for something more effective. Thanks!

You can wipe or spray the plant with insecticidal soap and place some diatomaceous earth around the soil. Do this every week for about a month so you kill all them that are on different life stages.

I use 3% hydrogen peroxide, 4 cups to a gallon of water/fertilizer/whatever else you use. That was a suggestion made to me by one of the members in Planta. It’s sooooo much easier than using yellow stickies, (they’re horrible, don’t do that or you’ll go insane😵‍💫) and I was told that the oxygen in hydrogen peroxide is very beneficial to plants. There doesn’t seem to be a downside and I’ve been using it for a while and no more fungus gnats. You can’t beat that! Good luck! 😊💚🪴

I sprayed with Captain Jacks weekly for three weeks and treated the soil with systemic. Now, I’ll refresh the systemic every two months (as instructed). Be very sure to spray front and back of leaves and try to clean around the area where the plants live. I also cut off any affected leaves (because the babies live in that tissue).
