Hello! I recently bought a new spider plant that is still in its nursery pot (2 in) and it isn’t doing great 💔. It’s becoming very droopy and a few shoots are turning brown. I am scared of overwatering it (aftermath of healing a nerve plant lol) but the soil can never hold enough water and it is bone dry a day after watering. Any advice?

Hey! My spider plant was exactly like this. I repotted it into a slightly chunky mix and watered quite frequently. Now it’s thriving, I’ve also put it by a north facing window and it seems super happy. Try changing the soil and water it as often as the soil needs

I would repot it with a chunkier mix and make sure all the roots are looking healthy!

So is chunky mix just a specific plant preference or is it a plant keeper preference? Would ALL plants do better chunky?

Yes most plants thrive in the chunky soil only certain kinds of plants need different soil like succulents

I might be wrong but I think the reason why we use a chunky mix across most house plants is because most house plants are from similar environments and need similar properties from the soil.

Sit it in water for a good while. Soul may be hydrophobic and not absorbing the water as it should

Agree with Marc75. I think the soil may be the issue. Consider changing it
