most of my indoor plants develop this green-ish white mold after a week or so after watering. I have decreased my watering to try and solve the problem but they still get mold on the surface of their dirt. I live in Colorado and my indoor plants are in a variety of ceramic and terracotta pot.

You might want to try bottom watering 😊✨

It’s a harmless fungus but it’s usually a sign of over watering.

Next time you repot, add perlite to your potting mix. This will allow some airflow through the pot which makes it harder for fungus to grow. Using a smaller pot can also help prevent fungus so the soil doesn’t stay wet as long

The fungus spores could have come with the potting soil if the same soil is in every pot with mold. It could also be in the air. Send_notes is right that continuously wet soil promotes its growth. It’s not harmful, as already stated. But, you can remove it if you find it unsightly. You can use a commercial fungicide to get rid of the current growth. Then, follow the recommendations to add perlite to the soil. You can also change the soil completely to one with better drainage. Additionally, the pot should be sized to be just slightly larger than the root ball. This gives the roots room to grow without storing excess soil (and water) in the pot. Excess water the pant can’t use can quickly lead to root rot.🍀🪴
