Hey! This is my second time posting regarding my rubber plant. I overwatered it about a month ago and most said to just let it dry out and then wait a while to water it. I did that, but the leaves have just been getting droopier and falling off. I took it out of the pot to examine the roots, but they look fine. Please can anyone tell me what they may think is wrong with it? I spent so much money on this plant and I really want it to work out. 😭

I had the exact same problem with the kalanchoe I posted. I’ve gotten advice and none works. So far I have just put it in the conditions it wants, thoroughly checked for pests and then given it best size pot for its roots. It isn’t declining anymore but it’s not getting better. I’m leaving it up to the plant gods, there’s not much else you can do. 😭

I’m worried it may have spider mites or some sort of pest 😭

That’s the only option I think for both our dilemmas but I can’t see anything on my plant

Why do I have to have such expensive hobbies. 🥹

My rubber plant improved immeasurably after I moved it to the porch, where it gets a couple hours of direct sun every morning.

This is a horrible time of year for plants, days are shorter and colder. So even healthy plants can struggle, and trying to rehab a sick plant will be even more of a challenge :( I would say put it back in fresh soil, in a pot that its roots just fit in (yours looks like it might be a bit too big, but it’s hard to tell from this angle). Wait a day or two to water. Put it in the sunniest place in your home right now. If you live somewhere you can put it outside even better. Sometimes the droopy leaves never stand up again, but you should notice a decrease in your healthy ones drooping 🤞🏻 You definitely can proactively spray for a pest if you suspect it has something but can’t see any signs. Water when it’s 90-100% dry, and if its still putting out new leaves then fertilize every 2-3rd watering with a diluted fert. As others have said, there are a million opinions out there and its hard to do trial and error on a special plant. I usually find the most straightforward suggestions are the successful ones 🤷‍♀️ Good luck!!

If you're not seeing pests (winter dryness loves a spider mite) ypu may have a fungal infection, from the browning with yellow haloing

You'd treat it with a fungicide sprayed every 3 days for at least 3 times. If you don't have one, you can use peroxide too

I didn’t notice any growth in the soil.

Growth in the soil??? What do you mean?

If youre talking about fungus/mushrooms or molds growth on the soil. Neither is indicative to fungal infection. Fungal infection in a plant generally only appears on the leaves noticeable by browning with a yellow halo.

What's the lighting situation like? Make sure you are watering when the entire pot dries out; then give a good solid drink.

I saw much improvement in my rubber plant when I repotted in a terracotta pot with a 50/50 mix of soil and perlite. I also have it under a grow light and it is doing great.
