Ok, so I know he’s probably a goner, but to help me learn from this, what’s going on with my dragon scale? I got him about 2 months ago. He had 3 leaves and a baby leaf starting. The third leaf went pretty quickly, but it was the oldest leaf so I figured it was fine. Then the baby leaf dried up and died before it unfurled. Now this. I repotted when I got it. I’m not sure what the white stuff is, but I’m positive it’s not bugs since the spots don’t move and the rest of my plants are fine. Humidity is about 45% on average. I’ve been watering when he’s about 80% dry. He’s under a grow light for 14 hours a day.

If you mist it might be mineral deposits, definitely clean them for optimum light absorption. Cant help on why its like this tho. I swore off alocasias because I cant keep them alive, as pretty as they are. Sorry. Last one i had i found a slug on it in the middle of winter indoors. Like... HOW? I hope someone can give you a clear answer.

For me they are way too much trouble but in all my research and time spent growing them I did learn a lot. They will go into dormancy if conditions are not good. They will come back. And the leaves growing downward is caused by too much light.

If the leaf tip is dry/crunchy, you may be underwatering. If it's still flexible, check for overwatering/root rot. If it doesn't seem to be either one, check for temperature issues (if it gets too cold it might try going dormant on you). If nothing seems to fit, be more consistent about when you water. Alocasias are also drama queens that shock easily if they're moved to a new spot

I’d start by checking the health of the roots. If they look good, it might just need a soil refresh. I recommend using a chunky mix with plenty of perlite for better drainage. If there’s still green, there’s definitely life! I’d also try adding a little fertilizer in between waterings to support new growth and avoid misting.
