SOS, my neighbors left this on the porch and didn’t want it anymore…… | Pests, diseases and problems | Planta 커뮤니티

SOS, my neighbors left this on the porch and didn’t want it anymore… Is it too late to save? Are these pests? The Internet is not helping me, but I repotted it and it looks greener already and I don’t know if this is only sun damage or if it’s some kind of bug, but I don’t wanna put it next to my healthy plants if so! Thank you for your help in advance 💫🤧

You might try spraying them with some Neem oil mixed with water and rubbing alcohol. Usually kills pests and any fungus or mold. Wouldn’t hurt just in case

I normally only mix water with neem oil! I’ve never tried with rubbing alcohol too! It doesn’t hurt the leaves at all? I’ve been on and off battling thrips (wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy)

It shouldn’t. Just as long as you don’t put a lot in there.

Make sure you use 70% alcohol; it has more water so is slower to evaporate but gets the job done.

It’s hard to tell. Could be multiple things going on. The yellow sticky indicates the soil is not drying fast enough allowing gnats to thrive. Use a smaller pot so the roots can quickly use up the water. Spider plants like tight fitting pots. They have thick roots that hold water longer than most tropical plants. The yellow pale color of the leaves could be too much sun,too little fertilizer or both. Place it in bright indirect sunlight. They can take morning sun. Fertilize at least once a month or dilute and fertilize twice a month to get the darker green color back. A grow light running 12 hours a day will work. Treat with insecticidal soap to clear pests on the leaves. Treat Mosquito Bits to kill fungus gnats in the soil. 🪴🍀
