Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone can help me with my lasagna fern. I got it for two months and only see it growing worse over the time. Initially I thought it might be underwatering with a scheduled watering cycle , so I repotted it with a self watering pot three weeks ago. However it seems not helping it at all, so now I am going to try to let the soil dry before the next watering. Any tips would be appreciated!

The fern, Asplenium, is like most ferns that don’t like watering extremes. They like evenly moist soil that does not fully dry out and does not stay waterlogged. The soil needs lots of aggregates like perlite to drain off the excess water. The soil needs moisture retentive ingredients like peat moss to keep it evenly moist. Check your soil doesn’t stay soggy after watering. I can’t speak to your self watering systems. I know they work if used in accordance with the needs of the plant and the makeup of the soil. You have the fill the reservoir often enough to not let the soil completely dry out. You have to ensure the self watering set up is not keeping the soil soggy. 🪴🍀
