For extra context, my usual routine is to repot the plant and clean the roots with diluted hydrogen peroxide, which helps tremendously for the host plant. Unfortunately I think the gnats are getting to their neighbors faster than I can find and treat them ๐Ÿฅฒ

I love the sticky traps they stick in pots i just ordered more, i also found adding rocks to the top of my plants soil helps, like a river stone mix, other wise i feel like watering less helps and letting the dirt dry out in between helps

try dish soap sugar vinegar and water in a glass, make sure to stir to create bubbles and add saran wrap to the top and poke holes, that helped me somewhat.

I donโ€™t have any recs but Iโ€™d love to hear a follow up from you if you do end up using them. What happens to the nematodes once they take care of your gnat problem?

Unsure. Some sites say they will survive as long as they "have food" and others say they can survive 1โ€“2 years. Some of these products are for lawn care though so I wonder if they do differently in indoor plants since their space (aka food availability) is limited to the pot.

If I use them maybe I'll document my journey in the "plant recovery room" group!

I used a brand called Nema Globe, they worked wonders for getting rid of the gnats. The nemotodes will die off when they run out of food/gnat larvae. It took waterings over several weeks (all indoors) before it was under control as everything I own has a different watering schedule. A delight vs using neem or other natural/chemical ways as it's effective as long as there's food for them to eat - so keep breeding those gnats and they'll keep eating those larvae. Just be patient and keep up the application as prescribed on your nematode package (my package had 4 applications included and I used them all over 6-8 weeks to ensure nothing remained). You'll definitely notice the difference after a week or so. Good luck!

THANK you! One thing I've been wondering: some plants want the soil to dry between waterings, but doesn't this kill the nematodes? I know fungus gnats don't thrive either in those conditions but I swear these guys are mutants and are able to withstand anything lol

That's where the repeat applications come in. The plants that like to dry out between waterings will tend to have fewer gnats to begin with, and I find the nematodes last long enough to get the job done. The worst of my plants was a huge pot that didn't have drainage and took a long time to dry between waterings, so it did take weeks for that one to clear completely, but those little nemotodes did a great job!
