Turtle’s tea

I JUST got this plant in the mail off of Etsy. It’s been in transit for a while. There’s some damage on a leaf. I removed saran wrap from the soil, and was hit with the smell of root rot. How can I reverse this? Note: there is a paper like lining around the soil that has helped keep the soil in its shape. From what I removed theres no mold.

I’m not sure what it is but I would say give her roots a good rinse and assess the damage, if she has enough to save just snip the unhealthy roots and maybe cauterize with hydrogen peroxide (diluted), if not you may be able to find a healthy enough node to propagate!

      It’s a philodendron melanochrysum

As far as I know philodendrons will do well with either option then, best of luck!
