This plant has been the problem child forever! I brought it home and kept it water logged for months (rookie mistake) I transferred it, it broke off its foliage, had mold everywhere. Today I finally took it out of its pot and I’m trying to dry out the roots. All of them are brown, I can’t tell what’s dirt and what’s rotting root! Say a prayer for this plant to live. I have other shoots from this plant doing amazing! Waiting for this one to catch up. Check out the progress on this one and it’ll make sense…

  1. Resilient Roots

    The crown looks ok? I would gently pull at the roots, anything slimy or brittle, cut or pull off. If you have any rubbing alcohol, wipe your cutting tool(s) before trimming the better roots. It could then go back into a 5cm pot, and use a chunky mix or a specific succulent mix. Water lightly.

      Really? I didn’t know you could use alcohol on roots and I would’ve thought this poor plant is dead. I am inexperienced though.

      The crown is a little brown but I’ve cleaned the plant with some qtips. I’m going to a nursery today so I might pick up some products. Some of the roots are still good. Thanks for the tips!

      They’re saying to clean the cutting tools/scissors with rubbing alcohol prior to cutting the roots. Definitely don’t use alcohol on roots directly!!

    I didn’t know about alcohol either…I was gonna suggest soaking the remaining roots in a 50/50 blend of peroxide and water for about 10 minutes before repotting to try and stop any rot.
