Help?! I’m a newbie to plant care & trying so hard to establish a green thumb but I’m clearly struggling! Does anyone have any suggestions on what’s wrong or what I can do to help this failing plants thrive? Currently trying to revive a spider plant, haworthiposis venosa, and a lemon lime.

    How often are you watering each one?

      Every 10 to 14 days. But I noticed during a recent heat wave these three started to really decline.

    It looks overwatered to me. And if the bottom photo is a snake plant. You can’t basically neglect them for a while and they will thank you for it. Removing those dried dead leaves will also help refocus the energy toward new growth

      I’ve been following the schedule that I use an app but sounds like I need to give more time between watering. I’ll remove the dried dead leaves and hopefully that helps revitalize them. Thanks!

      Hi there, sorry to hear you’re having issues with your babies. Plant care takes some getting used to. Just a quick note, I don’t see any haworthiposis venosa plants in your pictures? Were you referring to the one with brown spots on the leaves? I can’t see the stem on that one but the leaves look like my dracaena fragrant aka “corn plant”. One thing that helped me a lot when it comes to watering is getting a water meter and checking the plant is thirsty before I water. I traditionally used the metal stick type as I didn’t like putting my finger into the soil. Some people use a chopstick too. The water meter is fine to use with soil (doesn’t work well with all substrates) and is inexpensive to purchase at plant shops or online. You put it into the soil, check if the soil is dry, moist or wet and either water or wait. You don’t leave it in the soil however. I recently came across a leave-in option called “Sustee” moisture meters. I find these fabulous and have them permanently in a few of my plants. They are less fussy with what substrate you use too. I wish I had these when I started my plant journey! Planta will give you recommendations on watering but I suggest you use them as reminders rather than rules. If you get a watering notice, always check the soil first and act accordingly. As for what to do now, I would be checking if the soil is dry and watering the plants if it is. A good way to water is to take the plant to the sink and water well until the water comes out of the bottom drainage holes. When it’s finished dripping, place it back on its tray.     You may have to check your soil before you water, this app isn’t always accurate, in fact I find it tends to have me overwater most of the time. If that happens I just snooze the watering task and check the soil again in a few days

    Yes I feel like I’m watering too often if I follow these reminders. So I’ll snooze tasks for a bit to see if that helps
