HELP! My Alocasia Polly has spider mites! I tried circling a bit of the web but it doesn’t show up well on camera. I have never had spider mites so tips and care info will be GREATLY appreciated. I checked all the leaves and it looks like there’s only a web on this new leaf coming up so maybe I caught it early if that’s even possible. TIA!!! 😓

Because I’ve dealt with it so much, I spray every time I water my plants. The Plant Bar Co Dead AF.

Do you spray all your plants for preventative?🩶🪴

I do because spider mites were the death of me when I first started getting into plants. The company I told you about sticks to more natural ingredients so it isn’t so harsh on my plant babies.

Welcome! Diatomaceous earth should help too! Water in the soil!

I’ve used Captain Jacks Insecticidal Super Soap with great (and quick) results. I just wash it off the next day. A great preventative measure is misting often or raising the humidity. Spider mites love dry air and Alocasias. The two combined are heaven for them. I just mist mine and it’s fine. I do have plans to get a humidifier though

I mist mine everyday ( I also don’t have an humidifier) so when it got spider mites I was a bit surprised. Only one leaf that I could see had eggs but the leaf was new and hadn’t unfurled yet so I had to unfurl it a bit to wash the leaf down. It is doing good now, I used 5 parts water 2 parts rubbing alcohol and 1 part dish soap but in the future I might have to try that soap u recommend. Thanks for the advice!!!

I wonder if it has anything to do with the increasing heat. Glad the plant is doing well tho! Keep it isolated for another 2-3 weeks (personally, I like to isolate for almost 2 months just to be absolutely sure they don’t come back) for when another batch hatches. Mites lay eggs daily unfortunately. I’ve also heard good things about Flying Skull: Nuke ‘Em but I’ve done zero research on it.
