My haworthia has had this yellow-brown discoloration on the central “leaf” since I got it, but now it’s starting to get bigger. Google says overwatering, underwatering, or too much light. Any more specific ideas?

Do you normally take the inner pot out when you water? If not then the plant could be yellowing due to being wet constantly

Yep - I try to let it dry out

Mine does this when it gets too much light. I keep about a foot from an east-facing window now and it’s much greener. If it’s super squishy though I’d check the roots to make sure it’s not rot

It is already 4 feet or so from a window; and it’s not squishy at this point, just discolored.
