I have no idea what's happening to my prayer plant. Just today a perfectly fine leaf turned curly and dry. It keeps growing browned leaves and I feed her tap water with water conditioner to get the chlorine out (buying a water filter soon). She lives in about a 5in pot but is growing roots out of the bottom. Pot bound maybe? Growing medium is between dry and moist at the bottom. Please help! I'm going on vacation tomorrow and don't want to leave her to die 😖

    It looks like a humidity issue, dry crinkly ends are usually the classic sign. I’d try to run to Target or Walmart where they have cheap small humidifiers. That or set out bowls of water around the plant if you don’t have time and then get a humidifier once you get back.

      Strange. I have a humidifier and the room is set between 55-65%, but it is across the room..maybe a move closer will help?

      Ahh. Okay hmm, the mystery continues lol. Yeah you could try moving it closer, it might be a bit dehydrated being pot bound too. What kind of soil do you have it in? What type of light does the plant get? And how often are you fertilizing?

      I haven't repotted it yet so the soil from the store is an all-purpose mix plus perlite. 4ft from a south facing window, but receives mostly afternoon sun since my computer blocks the direct light. I fertilize to plantas schedule when the soil is more dry and with very diluted all purpose miracle grow

      Okay, yeah they don’t like to get too dry and don’t like direct sunlight. Hmmm I might pull back on the fertilizer and try distilled water like Lisa suggested and then repot into a slightly bigger pot.

      Distilled water, as Lisa said. Prayer plants don’t like the minerals in tap water, conditioned or not.

    Not sure, but chlorine may not be the only problem. These plants are super sensitive. I use RO water on all my plants. From what I’ve read, they may be sensitive to lime and fluoride in tap water. It sounds like your humidity is fine. That probably covers the entire room.

    Get yourself a gallon of distilled water, as suggested, before you leave. Have your plant sitter use only that on her.
