So cute what is she
์ข์์ 1๊ฐCicada
0๊ฐ ์ข์์Kinda reminds me of a pug lol
์ข์์ 1๊ฐOmgsh! Yes! ๐
0๊ฐ ์ข์์OMG I was trying to place what it reminded me of... You're absolutely right! ๐
0๊ฐ ์ข์์It looks like a recently emerged cicada. Those things are so noisy when they are at one of their peak years.
0๊ฐ ์ข์์Actually, this is a female. Only the males make noise.
์ข์์ 1๊ฐAdorable!!!
0๊ฐ ์ข์์Itโs the cutest! I wish I could see one in person. Youโre lucky ๐
0๊ฐ ์ข์์In the years the long-cycle ones come out, they're so numerous and clumsy they'll fly right into you ๐
์ข์์ 1๊ฐI need to add seeing them emerge to my bucket list. We donโt get them in CA. Guess I have to wait another 13 or 17 years! What an amazing life cycle.
์ข์์ 1๊ฐCalifornia has 73 cicada species, just none of the periodicals. That means you get plenty on shorter emergence cycles that are more like 1 or 4 years. If you're more coastal, look for the van duzee's cicada. If you're more inland, try looking for the mountain cicada :)
0๊ฐ ์ข์์And if you ever travel to see the big periodical emergence, look up the broods in advance (they pop up in different states each year, so you don't have to wait the full 17) and look for them under oak trees (they use many trees, but seem to favor oak.) Also have fun trying to spot the three 17 year species and the four 13 year species (i found two 17's with the last emergence)
0๊ฐ ์ข์์Thank you for letting me know. Where can I find more info on where I could see them? I thought they were only an east coast โbugโ! I have to go looking for them. Guess Iโll take care of my plants later. ๐
0๊ฐ ์ข์์These are my favorite bugs!!
0๊ฐ ์ข์์She's gorgeous ๐
