Hi there. My mom gave me a cutting of her pothos plant that I had been growing in water for a few weeks. I finally potted it last week and within a few days, some of the leaves started to yellow. I panicked and put it back in just water. Pls help!

Roots look all rotted, if mushy cut them all off, what likely happened was that there wasn’t enough oxygen in the soil, leading to root rot/roots weren’t acclimated to soil got shocked and died. When moving to soil, make sure you keep it more wet than usual, as the roots in the water are different to soil roots, by keeping it more wet it allows them to acclimate.

좋아요 1개Super helpful. Thank you all! Would you recommend cutting off the yellow leaves?

Water roots often go brown, but as others have said, if they are mushy/squishy then cut them off. If they are brown but still hard and feel healthy then they are totally fine.
좋아요 1개I would repot in soil and cut off all the yellow leaves and make sure the roots are not mushy and if they are cut them off, but it’ll be fine and so I just transplant 8 pothos from water to soil and yes, some leaves died. I just cut them off and they’ll grow new ones.
