Does anyone know why my Dragon Scale’s edges are curling inwards? The edges are fully firm still no sign of soggy leaves - 70% & 20 degrees celsius - Directly under grow light approx 30cm away - Watered when soil dries out - Fertilised when Planta says so
Hi, how is the stem? Do they fold down? If so, it’s too much light. Alocasia will turn their heads to face downward when they’re in light that’s too bright.

좋아요 1개I don’t think she wants to dry all the way out. I’d consider watering a day or two earlier than you usually do for the next few waterings and see how she responds.

Alocasia leaves often start curling inwards usually to deal with underwatering, low humidity, or too much direct light. Given what you shared about the current conditions and care, I’d be willing to bet that it’s just a little stressed from drying out too much in between waterings. Alocasias really like to stay consistently moist; I try to water mine as soon as the top 25%-30% of the soil is dry. It is possible that it’s getting too much light as well, though that seems less likely to me since I dont necessarily see any brown sunburn spots or bleached/paling leaves-but I could be wrong. To be sure, you could download or purchase a light meter to measure how much the leaves are currently receiving. If they’re getting more than 1,200 foot candles, it may be too much direct light. (Disclaimer: foot candles/lux are not perfect measurements for light with plants since they only measure how bright the light is to the human eye, but I find it’s a lot more accessible to measure that than PAR/ppfd and is still very useful information to have rather than totally guessing).
