I got this as a gift. When I received it its soil was SOAKED and then it started dropping probably 5-6 of its bottom leaves. I haven’t watered it since and now it’s starting to drop more leaves and turn red on the sides? Does anybody know what’s up with this and how can help this plant? Should I water?
hi! the soil is probably too moisture retentitive or theres no drainage - when you first got the plant it was most likely dropping leaves from the excess water, and my guess for the leaves that have dropped off most recently is because it needs a drink. (kind of ironic, lol) i would repot into a chunky succulant/cactus soil, and remove any roots that are dead (dry and papery). the red is just from sun stress - this isnt anything to worry about, and can often make a plant look a lot prettier IMO :) some plants will just have the edges get darker, others will have the whole leaf turn a red or purple. hope this helps!
