My Moonlight Scindapsus leaves are growing in browned and torn and bent at the tips. It’s not a humidity issue since it is in a huge group of plants with a humidifier running. Been a few weeks and all new leaves are doing it. I just looked at the roots and man they’re beautiful, but I’m wondering if her fuss is because she’s too tight in her pot. I moved it up to a pot with about an inch more room so hopefully that’ll get her through the next season. I didn’t mess with her root ball or soil, just moved her up a size. My plants are in an East facing window but no grow lights, so she’s likely going dormant for the winter. What do you think? Are her warped leaves likely from the root system being crunched up?

i would assume it’s a lack of water due to being root bound, your repot should help. but maybe also consider a light fertilizer to help it out

Is it alright to fertilize this late into the season?

The repot will help. I don’t think she’s going dormant. The growth might slow down in winter. Mine kept growing at a slower speed in the colder months. I reduced the watering and fertilizer. 🪴🍀

Is there a difference between going dormant vs slowing down their growth? Obviously dormancy is complete halt to growth, but do the current leaves due back too?

Dormant for a scindapus is the growth stopping. Short days and cooler temperatures can trigger plants to stop growing until spring. Other plants will drop all leaves. Your plant is inside with warmer temperatures. Growth might slow or stop. Loosing leaves is less likely unless the light gets too low.
