I rescued this orchid plant the other day and have no idea what to do. They end of the stem is dry and shriveled but the base seems to be healthy. I gave him a drink of water today but beyond that, should I repot him? Should I clip off the dead end? Will his flowers come back? I could use some input.

Looks healthy! Yep just trim off the flower spike. I would repot as well because a lot of orchids come with too dense of substrate. I use just orchid bark and chunky perlite. Wait to water until the roots look “silvery” rather than green. They usually bloom in the fall/winter, but since yours just finished blooming, it might be longer than that. don’t trim the whole flower spike off if its firm and healthy, only cut the dry, dead pieces. phalaenopsis orchids will eventually grow new buds from the same spike. forcing it to grow a whole new flower spike could stress the plant unnecessarily. check out the orchid oasis to connect with more experienced orchid growers 🌱
