this is my year old hydrangea. is she dead or dormant 😭 - she has some greening on the branches after i changed the soil and gave plant food and water

    Oh no! I’m so sorry!! There’s really no way to tell if there’s any chance of revival for this one 🥲. The best way to tell is to take her out of the pot and check her roots. If you see any white roots then there is a chance to save her! But if you see no signs of white roots, then there’s not much more you can do. If you do see white roots than most likely she is still in her hibernating phase. They keep their branches bare through winter- early spring, which we are currently in.. also, try to keep her out of the cold

      okay!! thank you so much!! when i repotted her, her roots were white!

      Yay that’s good! So she’s probably just still conserving energy for the summer! Just keep her warm, provide sun, and water accordingly. They do best in morning sun and afternoon shade, but in cooler temperatures it’s okay for sun all day. On hotter days, protect her from the sun.

      thank you again, and could you tell me if these roots are white/healthy? when i scratch the outside they are light colored on the inside, they are also firm and hard to break apart
