I have a pretty new blackberry bush i got in almost perfect health. As you can see its growing berries and there are little flowers growing on it. I’m having a few issues and I’ve never grown berries or any kind of fruit. My first issues is the leaves in the second to last photo, i assume somethings been eating them but I’m not sure what, I didn’t see and pests on the leaves or plants anywhere. Does anyone know what kind of pest it could be or what i can do to prevent it? I’d also like to know if that could permanently damage the plant? The second issue is in the last picture, The one stem is just a dark brown with brown leaves but I believe it’s one of the few with an actual berry so far. Any advice or info is helpful! Someone please help me take better care of this baby. 😞

Check around dusk for the bugs. It’s probably a caterpillar or hornworm. The hornworms are easy to miss bc they’re a perfect green to blend in. I think there are sprays but I’m hesitant to use them since they can hurt the pollinators of the flowers. I just pick them off and toss them into the yard and check all the plants every once in a while. And if the leaves are still green they’re still doing their job so they can stay!

Leaf cutter bees, cut circles out of leaves. Those look pretty circular to me. Just a thought 💭
