    It looks like a hornworm to me, they grow up to be moths. The white things on it are most likely the eggs of a wasp or other insect, they’ll hatch out and eat the hornworm :(

    Hornworm. Some years I get them on my tomatoes too. They will eat your tomato leaves. Best to remove them if they are numerous. If you have a healthy bird population and they forage in your yard, they will eat the caterpillars. The parasitic wasps eggs are good because it will keep the caterpillar population in control. The wasps don’t sting people and are considered beneficial insects. If I had predatory wasps in my yard, I would consider leaving the caterpillar and let nature take its course

    This is a hornworm caterpillar, likely a tobacco hornworm (Manduca sexta) or a tomato hornworm (Manduca quinquemaculata), that has been parasitized by the Cotesia congregata wasp. That’s what google said 🤷🏼‍♀️

    That is indeed a hornworm but looks like nature is taking care of it for you. It is being eaten by braconid wasps which are parasitic in nature and attack caterpillars like hornworms that eat your tomatoes. The worm will now climb to the top, wasps will kill it, and then it’ll lay more eggs in more worms.

    I’ve always called them tomato bugs. They are disgusting. I have never seen the white things but the hornworm will eat the leaves of your tomato’s. You’ll be surprised how fast and much they eat. Bare places make it easy to fling them. Google says get rid of them. They will propagate and be a continuing problem if you don’t. “Handpicking: If you have a small garden or a limited number of plants, handpicking is an effective method. Wear gloves if you're uncomfortable touching them. You can drop them into a bucket of soapy water to kill them.” I get a scissors and cut.branch they are on off into container. I usually put them in trash can. I know wasps are beneficial but I have enough bees of differing types. Yellow jackets hornets and wasps to pollinate so I’d get rid of the white eggs too. But get rid of those thing!!!!!!!YUCK!
