HELP! I'm not sure what is happening with my plant!!! It is a Bromeliad plant. Is it too dark? I last watered it a week ago. The top soil is moist.

Unfortunately, this is normal for these plants. That top part is the bloom and it will die and babies will grow from the pot
3 likesI agree with plant.lady87. They also don't like to be watered in the soil you pour the water in with the flower and it will cascade down the plant. I keep water in all the tops of the plants. I have 3 different types. When the flower dies cut it as low as you can so the plant will put more energy in the new pups. Once they get well established you can take them off the mother plant cause she will die off too.
3 likesThank you guys. I have been watering from the top and letting it drain down the flower or flow down the flower. But I just thought I was doing something very wrong! However I guess I wasn't. Thank you for the Xperience plant lovers. I appreciate it. I have been working with these plants for about a year and a half now. Before then I had a black thumb! I'm getting so much better. I appreciate everybody's input toward helping me keep my plants alive.
