Unhappy Maggie

Hello, I’m a plant dad, and I really need help, my Majesty Palm (Maggie) that I’ve had for 5 years is not doing well. I don’t know what to do. I noticed here not doing well so I repotted her, while doing that I separated her roots. She’s not getting better. She’s turning yellowish brown, a new leaf sprouted and died before it grew. The pot is huge, and the soil is wet closer to the bottom but kind of moist towards the top. Because of that I’m scared to water her because of the fear of over watering. Maggie has been with me through som really times I’m extremely sad and concerned about her, I don’t want to lose her. Someone PLEASE HELP

So sorry to hear that Maggie isn’t doing so well. Honestly, majesty palms are super hard to take care of since they are tropical plants. So, it’s amazing that you’ve had her for so long, good job! While I can’t definitively tell you what’s wrong with her, and can give you some pointers on majesty palm care. The main thing is that they love humidity and about medium indirect light. So I’d invest in a humidifier and place the plant in a good spot (avoid south and east facing windows). They also like their soil moist (not wet), so don’t allow the soil to dry in between waterings. Although you want plenty of drainage as always, make sure your pot has a drainage hole. You might need to fertilize her as well, which can help with her growth. It’s not much, but I hope that helps you out. Best of luck!
