My monstera adonsonii hasnt been doing as good as she normally has and I am suspecting some type of pest. We have a fungus gnat problem with another plant and are treating all of our plants for that but from what ive looked up im not sure that's whats causing this? I don't see any obvious signs of pests like spider mites or mealy bugs so im stumped! Spots, yellowing, and some deformed leaves. Thrips? No idea how it would have gotten them or why my other plants arent suffering from them if so. Ill take any advice I can get!

I repotted it not too long ago. Maybe 5 months ago? Its in a clear nursery pot with drainage and from what I can see the roots look decent. The soil is taking forever to dry out (its still wet and I last watered it september 6th) so maybe thats causing it?? I can move it into more direct light? Its never had an issue with the soil not drying out before but I moved to a slightly more humid snd wet state from a dryer area in august so maybe that too? (Easter washington > western oregon)

I think you're right. It's probably because the soil is still wet from 3 weeks ago plus you moved to a different climate. Well actually how long ago did you move?

I moved august 15th so a little over a month. Its in a decently chunky soil mix (orchid bark, potting soil, perlite) but is there anything I can be doing to help it not hold so much water? I would say most of my plants are holding water longer than normal. I could always cut out some more holes on the nursery pots for extra drainage

Since you moved your plants might need soil amendments if your new home is more humid than your last. Try adding more perlite, chunky bark etc to your mixture and less water when you give them a drink. I would suggest that you aerate (stick a chop stick into the soil before watering and during the week) regularly to prevent wet clumping areas as well. I live in New England, high humidity from the Atlantic Ocean has my soil retaining water longer than I would like. I believe these methods have helped prevent root rot. Best of luck and happy growing.
