Ok so what is the protocol for a self watering pot with a rope like this? I got it on fb marketplace in this little cup and it seems to love soaking the water up but it’s getting this weird white film on the top soil. What does that mean and how often should I fill the water?

The white film on the top of the soil is likely mold or mycelium, a type of fungus that is common in moist environments. This can happen in self-watering pots or when the soil is consistently wet, as the moisture provides an ideal environment for fungi to grow

But it is harmless and mainly only shows up when the environment is healthy and happy

It also could be salt deposits from using tap water
