While I'm at it, plant experts. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong with my manjula pothos? It was also doing fine? Does it need more light than the average pothos? My leaves are yellowing and turning brown on the edges. 😭 I'm feeling like such a plant parent failure right now lol. Help?

Maybe sunburn but also may want to be in a slightly bigger pot. What type of substrate is it in? Until I began to use tropical soil mine didn’t really thrive either. I feel like the biggest failure when my plants start to look unhappy 😞.

I'm actually not sure of the substrate. I bought it off of Palmstreet and she was gorgeous and perfect when I first got her. And then she started to decline 😭 I also had her in a partially shaded area so do we think I should give her even more shade? I have a north facing window that doesn't get much light so I use grow lights that I try and angle to not give direct light! But I'll see if I can get some tropical mix! And I recently got some of those clear planters so I should be able to move her soon 😭

The crispy white edges do look like they could be getting too much light but I feel like the window you’re describing might be perfect. Even if you only have all-purpose soil you may want to remove 2” and mix fresh mix gently into the soil. How long ago did you receive it because it may still have transplant shock. I’m sorry I know I’m not being the most helpful🤦🏾‍♀️!

I got her maybe on 6/20 I think. So not quite a month but getting close! And no! This is still way more helpful. Because I know nothing 😂🖤

Yeah I would start with adding a little new substrate to her! How about your water? Do you use filtered or purified water? It’s really weird because I water with purified but mist with distilled.

Honestly I didn't realize that plants are so sensitive so I've been using tap water this entire time. So I guess I should maybe switch to just using distilled or purified? The water goes straight through, like it's not taking any of it 😭

It could need more light, water and/or fertilizer. They go dry and yellow when they need more light or water. Check the roots. It could be root bound as well. Repot to a size 2” wider if there are more roots than soil in the pot. Fertilize with 50% diluted fertilizer every two weeks. The leaves should have darker green on the leaves. Water as soon as the soil is completely dry. The plant looks limp when it’s dehydrated. Don’t follow a strict schedule. Verify the soil is dry by checking with a finger or stick. Give it 8-10 hours of bright indirect sunlight or at least 23 hours under a grow light. Ensure the humidity levels are at least 50%. Add a humidifier if needed. 🪴🍀

Okay! Thank you. I'll try checking to see if it's root bound. What should I do if the water goes straight through? I try to water and it just starts leaking immediately. I think I'll definitely need a humidifier 😭

Also should I add stuff to help her climb? Or is it okay to let a manjula trail?

What you’re describing with the water running straight though sounds like your soil has become hydrophobic, meaning it’s repelling the water rather than absorbing it. This can mean that the roots aren’t getting any water when you water it! The best way I’ve been able to fix this is by bottom watering and allowing it to sit in the water as long as it needs to until the soil feels thoroughly wet, then let it drain out excess water.
