Hi everyone. I believe this is an Easter lily cactus, but what are those fuzzy white spots all over? Is there something wrong?

I'm so sorry but they look like mealy bugs. Lots of them. Hurry and get it away from all of your plants. Treat with rubbing alcohol. Use a q-tip or even spray it with alcohol every 5 days untill all gonr.

Looks like Mealy bugs. Take some Qtips dipped in alcohol. Hit all of those white things. If they turn brown when the alcohol touches them they are definitely Mealy bugs. After you get all of them off with the alcohol and the Q-tips, pour a mixture of one part hydrogen peroxide to three parts water through the soil until it leaks through the bottom. Get it away from all your other plants and keep it there for a couple of weeks. Keep using the alcohol on the Q-tips until there's no more. Don't worry. I've had plants that have had them worse than that. If you follow those instructions, they all survive.

Make sure you treat the soil too!
3 likesI am just curious, have any of you tried dipping the entire plant top in a dilute solution of alcohol? With so many mealybugs it would give a thorough coverage. I have not used alcohol much and you all have more experience with this. Maybe a dip and rinse technique?
0 likesI’m just throwing this out there…could it be cochineal bugs? I know they thrive on cacti. You can easily tell if it’s cochineal. Pick off a few of the offending bugs and squish them. If it’s cochineal, you’ll see a smear of vibrant red. Cochineal is used as a dye in cosmetics and food. Anyway, I’m really curious now, so please post a pic and let us know.
