I have horrible gnats all over my place and there are coming from the soil. I change the soil to compost and it doesn’t change. I use hydrogen peroxide and nothing. What else can I do? I don’t want to throw my plants 😭

sticky traps RULE for this, it’ll kill your adult flies. for the egg bros in the soil, if hydrogen peroxide didn’t work, try using a dish soap solution. rinse your whole plant down before planting in new soil also :)

Let soil dry out as much as possible and spray top of soil with hydrogen peroxide/water 1:4 mix. Be careful not to spray your plants. I did this a couple of times and the gnats were gone. 👍🏼😊

I use mosquito dunks in my watering can, let them soak at least 24 hours and never stop using it! One dunk will last about 30 days when continually refilling my 1.5 gallon jug. I’ve been doing it for over 2 years and only time I’ll see one is when it’s getting close to changing the dunk! It’s the only thing that has worked! Good luck!

All of the above are good options. I also use diatomaceous earth in my soil and a natural insecticide from a company called Bios. The trick is to kill the larvae as well as the adults, or else the problem will persist. Good luck!

You can also try bottom watering, making sure the very top soil doesn’t get too moist. And sprinkle cinnamon on top to hopefully prevent the gnats from landing in the soil again once you’ve treated with any insecticides 😊

I had major gnat problems last year and the best advice I got was to put down the watering can and let that baby FULLY dry out, the gnats eat the fungus from the wet soil so if it’s dry they have nothing to eat. then yellow sticky traps in every single plant. I also found that there were one or two plants that were causing the biggest issues…. I would sit next to the plant for 30 min either killing them with a fly swatter/my hand or literally vacuuming them up with my hand held vacuum… that last method might be a little too feral for some but it worked for me
