I purchased this monstera from a supermarket in the uk and initially when I got it the plant was thriving two new leaves grew in around 2 weeks then its growth stopped and it started to develop black spots with yellow around them from all the information I had about monsteras I assumed it was overwatering so I started to make sure the plant drained thoroughly before putting it in its pot and also made sure it dried out completely before watering but even with this it’s still was developing black spots at an alarming rate so I checked the routes and I noticed the plant needs repotting and so I reported it this week but I’m unsure whether it’s actually the watering cause I potted it into a better draining and less compact soil to hopefully negate this but I’ve be reading up about fungus and other problems so I want to post this for anyone with more experience in growing monstera Plants to give me advice

i looked it up and it’s most likely fungal (the yellow rings around the brown are a big indicator), get an anti-fungal spray and use that on the entire plant, as well as changing out the soil if possible. i know it’s a lot of work, but it should pay off!

So I repotted the soil this week and I’m really not up to repot again I’ve purchased a fungus guard off Amazon and I’m gonna cut the leaves with fungus on them

Howdy! This looks like root rot. When you repotted it, did you carefully inspect the roots and cut off the ones that were dead and rotting? Without doing that, repotting doesn’t help you because you’ve brought the rot into the new pot and soil mix. Sorry - I know it takes a lot of time and money to do it. Root rot is a plant owner’s worst enemy. But unsurprising if you’re getting plants from the supermarket - they’re never given proper care in those settings.

I’ve tried putting fugus spray and cutting all the leaves with signs of yellowing but it has not been growing due to winter
