Do you need any help with how to treat the rot? I’d be happy to walk you through it if you do 👍

It also had fungus gnats so I didn’t wager immediately. It’s my sad birds of paradise I’ve been accidentally abusing and trying to bring back to life! Any advice would be appreciated!!
2개 좋아요Happy to hear you used hydrogen peroxide on the roots. If you’re looking for a well-draining soil brand to repot it in, I swear by Espoma’s mixes. I’d avoid Miracle Grow’s soil cause it’s not well-draining and could just repeat the rotting process all over again. It might help your plant recover faster from the rot by putting some Bonide’s Rooting Hormone Powder on the roots. It’ll speed up the root development process to help it grow some of the roots it lost back. And adding some hydrogen peroxide to the water during waterings for a few weeks can help kill any possible lingering bacteria remaining from the rot, as well as kill any fungus gnats that somehow survived. Hope this helps.
좋아요 1개Thank you! The hydrogen in the water is a great tip!! These are the soils I used a mixture of. Also it was in a 14 inch pot with regular potting soil so it was absolutely drowning. The roots are so small because they were damaged and ripped in half, and I had no idea about the pot rule. I put it in a 10 inch so it’s way more snug. Honestly this BOP went for like 10 leaves 5 years ago and now she’s down to 2 so I’ll be shocked if she doesn’t just keep over lol
