I got this spider plant about a week ago and now the leaves are wilting, turning brown and yellow. I sprayed some name oil on it and put it in a window that did not get direct sunlight. Any tips? Just watered today

Looks like a watering issue. Let the soil dry out completely before watering. Spider plants have very thick roots. They can go longer without water than the typical tropical plant. Don’t follow a strict watering schedule. Check the soil is dry before watering. Pull off the pot and check for root rot. Ensure the roots fully drain after watering and are not sitting in drainage water. The fastest way to kill a spider plant is to keep it sitting in water while it’s on soil. Spider plants can take direct morning light from an east window once it is acclimated to full sun. See my photo. They need protection from a filter (sheer curtains, shade cloth) in a south or west windows. You don’t need neem oil unless you see bugs. Maybe you’re using it as a preventative measure in case the plant came with hidden pests?

I haven’t wanted it since the soil was still moist. I just got it and I use neem oil for all of my new plants since I don’t want to introduce a new bug into the house. I have it in a north window now and watered it just because I haven’t done so yet since I got it. I’ll take a look at the roots next. Thank you!

Also, there is an adjustment period for the plant to acclimate to the new environment. It can lose a few leaves and take up to a month to settle in.
