Can anyone identify what kind of hole this is? They appeared this morning, 3 of them, one is headed right for my newly transplanted mango tree and another towards my new banana tree

    It could be anything that barrows.. even rats.

      Only the holes, with the dirt kicked back as they dug. No raised tunnels.

      probably rats 😬 i've heard garlic deters them

      Tbh, I am seeing chipmunks do this, especially when they’re burying food (like my birdseed)

    You’d have to get a look at it. If you wait really still and quiet by the freshest looking hole, you’ll see it push more dirt out eventually. Probably a gopher, judging by the size.

    Could you upload another picture w something next to it for reference size? My instinct is that it looks like a large opening - so gopher or a mole. Or even more fun - Gopher tortoise 🐢 (based on your image) or burrowing owl 🦉 in Florida
