I cannot figure out what my Chinese money plant wants. The leaves keep turning a little yellow with brown spots on the edges and falling off. It is making new leaves, but the older leaves won’t stay attached. I wait until the soil is almost all dry before watering, it is planted with the recommended soil according to this app and it has drainage holes in the pot. I had it in my dining room with indirect medium light but then I worried it was too indirect and I moved it to under a grow light, but that didn’t seem to help.

The pot looks a little too big. I have mine about the same size in a 3 inch pot

Hmm ok. This is a 4” pot and it looked fuller at first. I can try potting down.

When choosing the size to pot in, focus on the size of the root ball rather than the foliage. plants that have large foliage but small roots should be in smaller pots.

How many days have you been waiting to water it? Planta has been changing the days because it’s the growing season but I’ve noticed a glitch that has reccomended that I water it way too often for some of my plants (including my 3 peperomia and succulents). If you wanna see if the number of days changed for you, look at what it says specifically for your plant, then look the same plant up through the idea and compare the watering days. Mine was telling me to water my hibernating hyacinths every two days when the ID version said to only water it during drought in the summer. Just worth checking.

If there is a difference, you can go into your specific plant’s settings and change the watering to a custom schedule and put the number of days the regular ID recommends. Hope this helps!

I have noticed this, too, but I keep snoozing it when the soil still feels moist.

I agree a smaller pot might be better given its current size. The soil will dry out quicker as well. I also like to wait until mine is totally dry before I water but I have mine in a 2in pot still so that’s pretty easy lol. Here is my Pia during this mornings drink sesh!

I have noticed it takes a long time for the soil to dry out all the way. I’ll try a smaller pot! Thanks!

They’re very similar. I was thinking raindrop because of the one I have. The difference is that the larger leaves tend to come to a point, whereas the regular pilea peperomides has all circular leaves. Here’s an example of the raindrop peperomia.

Ooooh good to know!! Mine look a bit pointed but maybe not as sharp. I will definitely watch out for that as she grows!

It’s likely the lighting was too low if you already done everything stated including letting the soil almost dry out. Give it a chance under the grow light. I would not repot right now especially if it arrived from the nursery in a 4 inch pot. This can add stress to the plant. Make sure to fertilize. 🍀🪴

It has been in a four inch pot, but I’ve had it since February, so it’s not new.

If you haven’t repotted it and have had it for that long, I think repotting it should be pretty safe. You might wanna try a 3 in pot rather than a 2 in pot, though. I bought a nursery plant that arrived in a 2in pot and cause there was little soil to come between the water and the roots, it arrived with serious edema from the plant trying to absorb more water than it could handle. It’s still forming new leaves, but the older, affected leaves will definitely not recover at this point. Definitely wouldn’t want someone else to go through that.
