I bought this banana plant just under a year ago and it was looking overall okay, some damage to the leaves from the shop, but had 3 health ones - I have repotted it once into this larger pot about 6 months ago & water it once a week- but it’s started to get a lot of browning, and crispy/split edges - it could be because of the cold temperature in my room (and it will be moving into a much warmer apartment with full glass windows all around) but is there I can do to help it for now/is there anything other than the temperature causing this?😢

Are you sure this isn’t a white bird of paradise? I don’t think banana trees and BOP are in the same family but they’re closely related. It might be the picture, but it’s looks to be a white BOP. It looks like a fungus issue. Do you know the type of soil you used and if the roots are able to have air? You can try watering with hydrogen peroxide. I usually do 1 part hydro to 5 parts water

It could be a banana plant. Either way they both require similar care… at least I treat mine the same lol I have my bop in a self-watering planter and I’ll probably do the same with my banana tree since they require more waterings—some people like self-watering pots, some don’t lol idk I don’t have an issue with them. Also, lots of light and humidity

Hi there :) these plants are very sensitive to the cold! You are right to suspect that is a part of the issue! When it gets cold the need for watering usually decreases! These plants like to be evenly moist constantly, but not drenched in water. When they get too wet their roots suffocate. if you then let this plant dry out the soil, then starts to compress and also suffocates the roots and causes them to die when you then rewire these dead roots it creates rot. That is what is happening here. I suggest you take this plant out of its pot. Check the roots remove any dead matter dip the roots into hydrogen peroxide and water solution and then repot into clean, moist soil and water with an arbor fungicide (optional but so beneficial) and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide. These plants are very sensitive so it’s likely going to take a long time for her to recover. Sydney plant guy on YouTube has a fantastic video about repotting his blood banana

The oldest leaves on my banana plant brown and dry and die and new ones grow. Mine usually supports the same number of leaves all the time.
