I just moved from AZ to OR and prior to moving I had replanted and cleaned and changed out all my soil, but now seeing these coming out of my plants. What do I do? 😳😥

Fungus gnats - pretty common and usually nothing to worry about unless they’re flying all over your house. There are a couple things you can do — water with mosquito bits to treat larvae in the soil, sticky traps for adults. Or you can get a carnivorous — or all of the above!!

I did all the above to get rid of mine, took me a good 3 months 😒 I watered my plants as little as possible, the wet soil is where the larvae thrive.

Agree with the above comments. I used to use mosquito bits until I found mosquito dunks. They are a bigger donut shaped version of mosquito bits a bit easier to use than the granules. I break them up into thirds. Let it soak in your watering can for 20min or longer before you water and you’ll keep them at bay. Gradually I’ve migrated all my plants to a soilless potting mix over time as well. I use Molly’s mix. I also recently started bottom watering which keeps the top layer dry. I use a kitty litter box and fill it it 1 to 2 inches with water. Add my mosquito dunks, superthrive and some water conditioner and bottom water 1-3 plants at a time. Hope that helps. Oh and if you have tons of critters flying around you can use some clear packing tape across the top of the pot to trap them in and they’ll stick to the tape when they try to fly out. When I first started collecting plants and had an outbreak the first summer I was horrified lol. Then I learned about mosquito bits I did a combination of the tape and mosquito bits and got rid of them. I also use tape for a few days when I bring home a new plant from a big box store or place that May over water.
