Does the Aralia Fabian stump have a dormancy mode? About 2 weeks ago I moved from Atlanta to Boston and most of my plants did pretty well with the move but my Aralia Fabian lost all of her leaves and some of her stems are a little mushy. There’s really not much to do at this point, I just want to know if anyone has experienced this and if there is hope?

Check for root rot. Mushy stems is a sign of mushy roots.

That’s good news! How many stems are mushy? I would cut off the mushy stems until it’s a healthy base and with time, it should put out new growth since it had a healthy root system. Also would recommend watering less since it doesn’t have leaves drawing up the moisture from the roots.

Oh that’s very smart! I will water less frequently. Not all of the stems are mushy, which seems promising! But I’ll cut back the ones that are (2cm at most on 3 on the stems)

Give her a lot of time to come back. I had this happen and had to trim mine back all the way, and it took her about three months to start looking healthy again. 💚
