Hyia, anyone know why my spider plant Steve has gone all sad? He was doing great in the summer but since the autumn he’s gone all droopy and limp :(. In august he made some babies, but they’re very leggy and there’s only one stem 🤷‍♀️. I repotted him yesterday and he was extremely root bound but very healthy. He also has this reddish stuff at the centre…? Thanks x

Looks like rot from overwatering. That soil is too muddy looking and lacks perlite/vermiculite or other gravel type material needed for good drainage. Spider plants have thick roots and do better if the soil dries between watering. Root bound is not a problem for spider plants as long as the drainage is good and the plant stores water. The pot looks too large for a one stemmed spider plant. Too much potting soil. The plant can’t absorb the excess water stored in the soil and leads to root rot. You repotted too early. My picture shows Bonnie spider plants in 4” and a 3.5”. Pots. There are 12 to 15 plants in the left pot and 4 in the red pot. Both are root bound and healthy for over 6 months.
